Some days just call for sneakers. Today was one of those days. I knew I needed to be comfortable and able to move about quickly. So even if my outfit says heels, my feet say sneakers. Pairing contrasting pieces, like silk dress pants and sneakers, can actually work really well. Opposites attract, right? Happy Kicks for comfort in style!

Stripes + Floral
I spent the majority of my time today meeting with parents at school for our fall conference day. I knew I wanted to be comfortable, but also look put together. Enter my floral pants ~ easy to move in with just the right amount of pizazz. I added a striped tee, in the same color family so the patterns complimented each other, and some comfortable yet cute flats. The latest addition to my wardrobe is this versatile cross-body bag from Old Navy. It's the perfect size if you're looking for a smaller bag that can still fit all of your paraphernalia. My jean jacket was an easy choice as an outer layer since it pulled my two patterns together.

Floral Flow.
A quick post tonight to show a look from last week. I decided to wear this dress as an outer layer over an all black ensemble. I like the pairing of a pretty floral with edgier black pieces. Plus, this dress looked super cool when I walked because of the flowiness. Happy Kicks for floral with an edge!

Floral & Denim
Summer is slowly fading away, but I'm holding on as long as I can. It's still too hot to transition to my fall wardrobe. So cream colored pants and florals it is! I love a denim vest thrown on top for an extra layer. Plus, how great are these sneaks? Quilted slip-ons at a great price were a must have for me. They're super comfortable and they add some casualness to these dressier pants.

May Floral
So lets get a few things out of the way before I actually discuss this outfit.
- I did not realize how wrinkled my shirt was until I saw it in the pictures. Ironing is not really a strength of mine.
- I tried outside pictures today and wasn't aware that there was a nip in the air. I was more concerned about the neighbors thinking I was crazy for posing on my porch.
- It was 7am so I the lighting is not fantastic. I will work on that the next time pictures are taken outside.
Now that I've gotten that off my chest, let's get to the outfit. Wrinkles, nip, and early hour aside, I think this outfit is perfectly springy with an edge. In honor of the first day of May I broke out my floral midi from Old Navy. The bright colors in this skirt really pop when paired with a darker gray. I added some edge with my peep toe heels from Steve Madden. I love the caged detail of these sandals. A denim jacket around my waist and my bucket bag were the final touches for my look.

Ladylike
Think Spring! Although I'm wearing tights, I'm hoping the rest of my outfit evokes spring flowers. I mixed my patterns again, but keep everything in the same color family. This bright chartreuse is one of my favorite colors right now. It makes me feel so happy. Should we talk about this midi skirt? Floral, flowy, and high-waisted. A perfect combination. I love that early spring allows for lots of layers. The chill this morning made me reach for my warm fur vest, but by the end of the day I didn't need it. Hopefully, I'll be able to leave that extra layer at home in the near future! Happy Kicks!

Chartreuse // Floral
Wishing for spring again today! I guess floral pants will have to do for now though. Since the pattern is so bold, I kept the rest of my outfit simple, using complimentary colors to play off the floral print. A leather jacket and comfy black clogs finished my look.
Happy Kicks today for a new hair part. It was a hit in the halls at school and someone even told me I looked younger! I'll take it!

Floral Flair
I may have picked up a few of Peter Pilotto's new pieces for Target over the weekend. It might have happened. And possibly I've been dying to wear them ever since. Just possibly. The weather here is not cooperating with my new springier items, but I couldn't wait any longer! So today you are getting a springy floral top styled for the winter weather. Wide leg pants, winter white lady coat, vintage bag, and statement earrings. Done and done!
Happy kicks today for my funny students! We are reading a fairly serious novel set during WWII, and I had a student compare the chapter today to an episode of The Big Bang Theory! I literally laughed out loud. You have to appreciate a 10 year old using Sheldon Cooper as reference! Bazinga!
