Varsity

Took it back to my sports days today with this varsity jacket. Okay, who am I kidding? I was really only on the JV Field Hockey team for one year in high school but...I did get most improved! Anyway, I love the combo of this comfy varsity jacket and graphic skirt from Peter Pilotto's collection for Target. My favorite Steve Madden slouchy suede booties finished this Varsity chic look.

Purple Pleats

Today's outfit was planned entirely around this stunning new statement necklace that just happened to arrive at my house yesterday. A little late birthday gift from my dear friend B! I immediately knew that I had to play with the colors in the necklace when I planned my outfit. So, out came this fun, pleated purple skirt and a striped top that I may have "borrowed" from my sis while she was pregnant (but of course never returned...because that's what sisters do). A leopard belt cinched in my waist and added another pattern to the mix. Black booties and a leather jacket added a downtown vibe.

Happy Kicks today for new jewelry and a skirt that twirled!

Stripes & Fur

Wearing some of my favs today. Stripes, owls, and faux fur. These pants are a recent purchase from The Gap and I love the small stripe. Since I'm wearing a pattern on the bottom I decided to keep the rest of my outfit pretty simple. A pair of pointy toe pumps keeps my look dressy. My faux fur vest was the perfect outer layer for a chilly morning.

Happy Kicks today for a surprise package sitting on my porch this evening! Love finding new goodies! Thanks B!

Sunday Casual

A casual outfit today for running errands. It was so warm here that I decided to break out my shorts. My legs are in no way ready for prime time though, so a pair of tights kept me from scaring everyone. I love throwing on a comfy tee on my days off, and I've found that the men's section of Target is the best place to find them. They're perfectly oversized and soft. A striped cardigan was all I needed as a second layer today.  Yay warmth!

Happy Kicks today for time spent outdoors with my kids! Love watching them play and enjoy the sunshine!

Pattern Play

Yes, those are my bare legs. Yes, it is February. No, I am not crazy (okay, that's actually debatable depending on who you ask). We had temps in the 60s today so I passed on the tights. My legs thanked me for finally paying attention to them. I chose a ladylike pencil skirt today with a gorgeous pattern. I love the color combination of mustard, rose, and navy. Booties and a loose sweater gave my skirt that cool girl/I just threw this together/I'm not fussy look. At least that's what I told myself as I walked out the door with my cross body bag.

Jeans & A Tee

Jeans day at school today!  Which means dressing was easy this morning!  I love a jeans and tee combo.  It's so simple and effortless.  I picked up this "Cheers" tee on sale at J. crew a few weeks back.  It's got a vintage feel to it ~ soft and loose.  Layers always add interest to a simple outfit, so I tied a plaid shirt around my waist and wore my navy blazer on top.  Collar popped of course!

Happy Kicks today for all of our amazing athletes competing in the Olympics.  It has been so enjoyable to watch and cheer them on over the past two weeks.  Go Team USA!  Cheers!

Chartreuse // Floral

Wishing for spring again today! I guess floral pants will have to do for now though. Since the pattern is so bold, I kept the rest of my outfit simple, using complimentary colors to play off the floral print. A leather jacket and comfy black clogs finished my look.

Happy Kicks today for a new hair part.  It was a hit in the halls at school and someone even told me I looked younger!  I'll take it!

Leather & Denim

Leather and denim.  Denim and leather.  I really don't think there's a better combination.  Now, in my case, these pants are faux leather, but such good quality that they look real.  These pants fit like track pants, loose and casual, so I chose a simple denim shirt to stay with the casual vibe.  Of course, I had to dress them up a little, so I grabbed my new favorite heels and some statement earrings.  I finished my look with some of my favorite winter elements, a camel coat and plaid scarf.

Happy Kicks today for painted nails!  Finally!  I chose a pretty purple since Radiant Orchid is Pantone's Color of the Year for 2014.  Plus it felt springy and I've heard there are some warmer temps on the way!

Mixed Prints

There is definitely an art to mixing prints, and while I am no Olivia Palermo, I think the two prints in my outfit work well together.  The key is choosing prints in coordinating shades of color.  The houndstooth is a black and cream which plays nicely against the olive in the camouflage top.  I added a cardigan to ground my outfit and a statement necklace for some wow factor.  My buckled booties kept my outfit looking casual.

Floral Flair

I may have picked up a few of Peter Pilotto's new pieces for Target over the weekend. It might have happened. And possibly I've been dying to wear them ever since. Just possibly. The weather here is not cooperating with my new springier items, but I couldn't wait any longer! So today you are getting a springy floral top styled for the winter weather. Wide leg pants, winter white lady coat, vintage bag, and statement earrings. Done and done!

Happy kicks today for my funny students! We are reading a fairly serious novel set during WWII, and I had a student compare the chapter today to an episode of The Big Bang Theory! I literally laughed out loud. You have to appreciate a 10 year old using Sheldon Cooper as  reference! Bazinga!
